Did you know Grit Visual shot wedding videos? No? I didn’t either. It wasn’t something we envisioned doing until our friend Peter proposed the idea of us shooting his wedding. I was completely honest that we’d never done one before. “Are you okay with that?” I kept asking. He assured me that he liked our style and trusted that we’d do a good job. As the months drew closer and the wedding approached, I frantically researched countless wedding videos. There were lots of things I liked, and lots of things I didn’t like. Between Peter’s ideas and ours, I started putting together a pretty comprehensive plan and shotlist. In the back of my mind, though, I knew that the day would be hectic and we’d have to roll with what was presented to us.
We decided to start the story with an aspect of their lifestyle. Peter and his wife Caitlin are both active people. What did they decide they’d be doing on their wedding morning? Mountain biking on the famous single track in their hometown of Park City. It was great to add a touch of something we’re so used to doing into a project that we were going into so blind. The rest of the day unfolded fast as we chased the two around in preparation for the evening.
The ceremony and reception were held at one of the upper lodges at Canyons ski resort. With everyone having to take a chairlfit up to the party, it made for some amazing backdrops and the weather was perfect. It was a blast to capture such a special evening for our friends. And in the end, I have to admit, it was a lot of fun. Here’s our very first (and hopefully not last) wedding film.
