What have we been up to? Well, staring at our computers. A LOT. But the reason why is pretty cool.
Last fall, we got a call from award-winning ski film production company Sweetgrass Productions. They were taking on a massive project for a new Olympic museum in Richmond, Canada and needed some help. The ice skating venue from the 2010 Olympic games, the Richmond Olympic Oval, is in the midst of a massive renovation which will make it a museum that tributes the Vancouver games and beyond. The plans are to make the museum a high-tech interactive exhibit for visitors, which includes screens playing looping video content throughout the space.
Each exhibit highlights different moments from the 2010 games and Olympic moments throughout history. Sweetrgass has been tasked to create these vignettes, which mostly include footage from a massive online Olympic database. Over the past couple of months, we’ve taken on lead editing positions for the project which include sourcing and ordering footage, and compiling it into comprehensive videos for the museum. It’s been a blast to have the opportunity to watch countless moments that shaped Olympic history, and re-purpose them into new and exciting content.
The project won’t be complete until May, but we’ll be sure to post up the finished videos as they become available. Stay tuned!
Here’s a parting shot of the editing team for the project.
